New Delhi: After declaring the result of NEET 2021, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has notified regarding the tie-breaking criteria of age for the ranking of NEET 2021 candidates.
In the NEET 2021 top rankers list this year, a total of 16 candidates were present within the top five ranks. The first rank has been shared by 3 candidates while 12 candidates have bagged AIR 5.
Since the NEET 2021 first ranking was released without taking the tie-breaking criteria of age into account, the three candidates shared the top rank in the test and the fifth rank was shared by 12 candidates. However, the NTA informed that the second NEET counselling 2021 will take into account the age factor for the tie-breaking method as unique ranks are required.
As per the official notification issued to this effect by Dr Sadhana Parashar, Senior Director NEET (UG), all the candidates of NEET 2021 are hereby informed that "this time, as per the announcement done earlier, for the purpose of ranking the tie-breaking criteria of age (as per past practice) has not been used."
"Accordingly, the first 'All India Rank for Counseling' is without the tie-breaking criteria of age. However, since for the purpose of counseling unique ranks are required, the second 'All India Rank for Counseling' also takes into account the tiebreaking criteria of age," the NTA said.
In view of the foregoing, in place of the first 'All India Rank for Counseling', a new field "NEET All India Rank" has been mentioned for more clarity, declared the NTA adding that the candidates, may if they wish so, download their scorecard again.
National Testing Agency (NTA) conducted its 3rd National Eligibility Cum Entrance Test (UG) – 2021 throughout the country on 12 September 2021 in 202 Cities at 3858 Centres for admission to the undergraduate medical courses in all medical institutions including those governed under any other law. The examination was conducted for the first time in foreign countries (in Dubai & Kuwait) also. It was also conducted for the first time in the medium of Punjabi and Malayalam, in addition to the existing 11 language mediums.
This year, 16,14,777 candidates had registered for the exam, 15,44,275 were present taking the percentage to 95.63 per cent and 70502 candidates were absent during the NEET 2021 exam compared to the massive rate of over 2.3 lakh candidates being absent during NEET 2020.
