NMC nod for 100 MBBS Seats at Karjat Medical College
Mumbai: Bringing good news to the medical aspirants of Maharashtra, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has recently approved 100 MBBS seats in the Dr N Y Tasgaonkar Institute of Medical Sciences, Karjat.
With the apex medical education regulator's nod for these 100 MBBS seats, the total number of seats in the private medical colleges of Maharashtra will also be increased.
The nod for NMC comes from after the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB), operative under NMC reviewed the expert committee's report concerning the infrastructure of the medical college.
As per the latest media report by the Times of India, the expert committee's report, which was reviewed by MARB, had mentioned the infrastructure, hospital facilities, faculty, and hostel facilities of Tasgaonkar group of institutes' medical college located on Bhivpuri Road near Karjat.
While commenting on the matter, the dean of the medical college, Dr Vinayak Sabnis informed the daily that they are prepared for admitting students in these 100 MBBS seats.
The daily further adds that the fee for this private medical college is yet to be fixed.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that MoS Health Dr Bharati Pravin Pawar had revealed before the Parliament that currently Maharashtra has a total number of 57 medical colleges, among which, 26 are run by the Government and 31 colleges are run by private managements. Among the 9000 MBBS seats in Maharashtra, 4430 are in Government-run medical colleges, while 4570 are in the private medical colleges.
Recently, NMC has also approved MBBS admission in 100 MBBS seats at Satara Government Medical college. Apart from this, the Central Government has also given green signal for the establishment of a Government Medical College and Hospital, which will be set up at Usar in Alibagh.
