NMC renews permission for 100 MBBS seats at MGM Medical College Indore
Indore: Indore based Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College (MGMMC) has received the nod from the Medical Assessment and Rating Board (MARB) of the National Medical Commission (NMC) for the 100 MBBS seats that were increased at the Institute taking the total intake capacity from 150 to 250 MBBS seats.
The renewal of permission from the Apex medical education regulatory body comes in respect of the third batch of MBBS students against the increased intake capacity, adds FPJ.
Formerly known as King Edward Medical School, MGM Medical College, Indore is one of the oldest medical colleges in India. The college has been offering MBBS courses since 1948 and consequently PG medical courses were introduced in the medical college back in 1953. Currently, the medical college offers undergraduate medical education in around 250 MBBS seats and there are a total number of 240 PG medical seats available at the institute.
Although previously, there were only 150 MBBS seats at the institute, the seats were increased with the permission from the apex medical body in the academic year 2020-2021 and back in 2021, NMC had issued the first renewal in this regard.
As per the latest media report by Free Press Journal, now the NMC board has issued its second renewal for the increased 100 MBBS seats at the medical college. The permission has come from MARB on the basis of the affidavit submitted by the medical college about the compliance of the requirement of staff and infrastructure for running 250 seats.
However, this renewal of permission is only valid for one year and after this, the medical college will be required to apply for obtaining NMC nod for renewal for the next year as well.
