Puducherry: The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research, Puducherry (JIPMER) has invited applications for BSc Nursing 2020 admissions.

(A) Duration of Course

1) B.Sc. Nursing:

B.Sc. Nursing is a full time 4 (Four) years degree course. The students are eligible for 1 (One) year optional stipendiary internship at JIPMER on successful completion of the course.

2) B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences Courses:

ï‚· B. Optom. (Bachelor of Optometry) is a full time 4 (four) years course (including one (1) year compulsory internship).

ï‚· Other B.Sc. Allied Health Sciences Courses are full time 3 (three) years courses. At the end of the course, the candidates are eligible for 1 (One) year optional stipendiary internship at JIPMER. The optional stipendiary Internship is subject to approval by competent authority.


Eligibility Criteria
(i) The Applicant should be an Indian National
(ii) He/she has completed age of 17 years at the time of admission or will complete the age on or before 31st December 2020, the year of his/her admission to the 1st year B.Sc. Courses., i.e. they should have been born on or before 01-01-2004. (Request for relaxation from the prescribed age limit will not be considered for any category of applicants). There is no upper age limit.
(iii) The applicants should have passed the qualifying examinations in the manner mentioned below:
(a) The Higher / Senior Secondary Examination or the Indian School Certificate Examination which is equivalent to 10+2 Higher / Senior Secondary Examination after a period of 12 years study, the last two years of such study comprising Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology (which shall include practical tests in these subjects) and with English at a level not less than the core course for English as prescribed by the National Council of Educational Research and Training after the introduction of the 10+2+3 educational structure as recommended by the National Committee on Education (Annexure - I lists the examinations recognized by JIPMER) or Higher Secondary Examination (+2) Vocational Stream with Medical Laboratory Assistant or any equivalent examination.
(b) The Candidates who have passed the qualifying examination other than those mentioned in the list appended in Annexure – I, will have to submit an Eligibility Certificate before admission is finalized. Obtaining such an Eligibility Certificate from Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi is essential for admission to JIPMER B.Sc. Courses.
(c) The applicant must have passed in the subjects of Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology and English individually and must have obtained a minimum of 50% marks taken together in Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology at the qualifying examination.
(d) For candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes / Scheduled Tribe or Other Backward Classes / PwD the minimum marks obtained in the Physics, Chemistry, Biology / Botany & Zoology taken together in the qualifying examination is 40%.
(e) For PwD candidates in general category the minimum marks in Physics, Chemistry, Biology/ Botany & Zoology taken together in the qualifying examination is 45%.
(f) Medical Laboratory Assistant course in the Vocational Stream will not be considered as an eligibility criteria for admission to B.Sc. (Nursing) course.
Note: Applicants who have appeared or will be appearing in the qualifying Examination in the year 2020 or whose results of the examination board have NOT yet been declared can also apply for admission, if other eligibility criteria (i) (ii) & (iii) are satisfied. However, the mark sheets of the qualifying examination should be provided at the time of counseling, failing which, the candidature will be automatically cancelled.
Please note that issue of hall ticket for the Entrance Examination does NOT necessarily mean the acceptance of eligibility for candidates whose results of qualifying examinations are yet to be declared.
How to Apply?

1) Candidates seeking admission to entrance examination are required to apply through online mode only. (Any other mode of application will not be accepted.)
2) Click the link in the Home page www.jipmer.edu.in and navigate to the link "Apply online for JIPMER B.Sc./M.Sc./ M.P.H./ P.G.D./P.G.F./Ph.D./ P.B.D. Courses Admission - 2020".
3) Read the prospectus and instruction carefully.
4) The procedure for filling online application is given in the ANNEXURE – IX in the Prospectus.
5) The candidate should acquaint himself/herself with all the requirements with regard to filling up the application online.

Request for rectification of any error committed in the application will not be considered under any circumstances and fees only remitted will not be refunded.


Entrance Examination
 Entrance Examination will be conducted through a Computer Based Test (CBT) [Online] only
 The examination shall be held on Tuesday, 22nd SEPTEMBER, 2020.
 The duration of the examination shall be 1½ hours (One Hour and Thirty minutes)
 The common Online (CBT) Entrance Examination will be conducted for all B.Sc. courses in a Single shift from 02:00 PM to 03:30 PM
 Therefore, all candidates will be required to appear at CBT Online Entrance Examination, which will be conducted on
Tuesday, 22nd SEPTEMBER, 2020.
 The venue, time and shift of the examination will be communicated to the candidates in the Admit Card.
 No candidate will be permitted to appear in the examination unless he/she holds a valid "Admit Card" issued by the Institute and a proof of their identification.
