New Delhi: While the Union Health Ministry has dismissed the chances of getting NEET PG 2022 postponed, the aspirants of the postgraduate medical entrance examination are not ready to take 'no' for an answer and they have now approached Prime Minister Narendra Modi in this regard.

Urging the Prime Minister to defer the exam, the doctors are trending the hashtag #POSTPONENEETPG_MODIJI on Twitter. This came after the doctors under the umbrella of Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) announced a Twitter Storm for deferring the exam and requested all the aspirants to use the same hashtag #POSTPONENEETPG_MODIJI.

The candidates are demanding to defer the exam on the ground that the exam date, which is scheduled on May 21, is clashing with the dates for NEET PG 2021 counselling.

However, this year the exam has already been postponed once when the candidates had cited similar reasons. NEET PG 2022, which is the centralized common entrance test for admission to PG medical courses across India, was earlier scheduled on March 12. However, pointing out that the date was clashing with NEET PG counselling 2021 dates, the doctors had approached the Union Health Ministry seeking postponement. In fact they had moved to the Apex Court as well.

Before the top court could take a call on the matter, the Union Health Ministry itself came to the aid of the students and postponed the exam by 6-8 months. Consequently, NBE rescheduled the exam on May 21. However, the doctors are not so happy with this date as well and they have pointed out how the counselling process will be completed in May itself, the month when the exam has been rescheduled.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that pointing out the rigid stand of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and the National Board of Examinations (NBE) in this issue, the aspirants had also threatened to surrender their medical degrees to the Government at the Rashtrapathi Bhavan if the exam, which is scheduled on May 21, does not get postponed.
Recently, FAIMA wrote to the Union Health Minister in this regard and the All India Medical Students' Association filed a plea before the Supreme Court seeking deferment of NEET PG 2022.
Meanwhile, the Union Health Ministry officials have dismissed any chances of NEET PG 2022 getting postponed. However, the doctors are not ready to take 'no' for an answer as FAIMA organized a Twitter storm yesterday in order to support the demands of the aspirants. The Twitter storm started from 5 PM on May 5, 2022 and the association requested all the aspirants to use the hashtag #POSTPONENEETPG_MODIJI to escalate their demands for deferment.

As @MoHFW_INDIA has given negative response regarding our genuine issue of #neetpgpostponement after so much efforts.Requesting @PMOIndia to intervene immediately! We request all of you to use this hashtag for twitter storm at 5 PM on 5 May i.e tomorrow!#POSTPONENEETPG_MODIJI pic.twitter.com/KJbcD1Dx1R

Trending the hashtag on Twitter, the doctors reminded of their services during the pandemic and questioned how they are supposed to prepare with counseling and exam dates almost clashing.

Referring to the service rendered by doctors during the peak of COVID-19 pandemic, a doctor mentioned in a Tweet, "Today, in our hour of need, the Government seems to have abandoned us because for the Respected people of the Government it seems we are like use & throw objects. Once the purpose has been served why bother? As a result of this attitude today all those covid warriors especially the students whose internship was delayed because of COVID duties are suffering."
Some of the Tweets referred to the anxiety among students as a result of the exam schedule, which is almost clashing with the dates of the NEET PG 2021 counselling.

The doctors also urged all the other aspirants to stay united strong in this process. Some of the NEET PG 2022 aspirants also wrote to the Deputy Commissioner of Delhi and requested to arrange a meeting with the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji. "We urge you to kindly support our genuine demands and also arrange a meeting with Honorable P.M. Narendra Modi Ji," read the letter.

Request to all #StayUnited GuysIf we are one ☝️—we are strong. #MedTwitter #POSTPONENEETPG_MODIJI pic.twitter.com/Th5hPfIR6b

Blaming the Government, another user wrote, "The indecisive authorities and the govt are mentally harrassing the #NEETPG2022 candidates for no particular reason. This is 2022 but da govt facilities still work like it's 1960. This is definitely not the nw India the govt promised in their manifesto.Sick #POSTPONENEETPG_MODIJI."

AIIMS Delhi has also come in support of the students as Dr. Datta of AIIMS urged all the associations to come together and take the demand forward.

We are only as strong as we are united, as weak as we are divided! 🇮🇳💪I call upon all associations working for #NEETPG2022DEFERMENT to immediately hold a round table conference to decide our immediate next action and exit strategies! 🤝🏾@FAIMA_INDIA_ @UDAIndia @official_aimsa

— Dr. Datta (AIIMS Delhi) 🇮🇳 (@DrDatta_AIIMS) May 6, 2022

Meanwhile, the members of FAIMA Doctors Association had gone to the National Medical Commission (NMC) to discuss this issue and confirmation regarding this came from the president of the association Dr. Rohan Krishnan who Tweeted about the recent development. He stated in his Tweets that NMC did not meet the association.

We are trying, we shall try till last moment . Hope @OfficeOf_MM understands the sensitivity of the issue. But requesting all my dear juniors to study. V r trying! What's pathetic is why the issue of these doctors is ignored like this. Why the word "wont meet regarding this issue" https://t.co/KZLPTUdnba

— Dr. Rohan Krishnan (@DrRohanKrishna3) May 6, 2022

@NMC_IND is an autonomous body , Should not be B team of @MoHFW_INDIA . I am not going to meet anyone for giving bouquets and garlands. Ready to meet everyone when agenda of the meet is fix #NEETPG2022postponement . @PMOIndia #POSTPONENEETPG_MODIJl pic.twitter.com/ZbsKQvPsIg

— Dr. Rohan Krishnan (@DrRohanKrishna3) May 6, 2022

Now the doctors are planning to hold a peaceful protest at Jantar Mantar on May 8, i.e. on Sunday and they have already arranged for permission from the authorities in this regard.

WE GOT POLICE PERMISSION FOR PEACEFUL PROTEST ON 8-5-22(SUN) AT JANTAR MANTAR,DELHI. TQ @ActivistSukhpal sir for your support. Request all associations & media to come forward so due JUSTICE is served.
