Rs 65 lakh bond for MBBS admissions at AFMC Pune this year
Pune: The candidates getting admitted into the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) are now required to pay a bond fee of Rs 65 lakh, according to the latest information brochure released by the AFMC for MBBS admissions for this year. Last year, the amount was Rs 61 lakh.
Confirmation to this effect was recently made by the information brochure for admission to MBBS course 2023 released by the AFMC states,
“At the time of admission, parents/guardians of the candidates are required to sign a bond agreement for Rs 6500000/- (Rupees Sixty Five Lakhs only). Any candidate withdrawing from the college after 7 days of admission [after 1600hrs (4 PM)] will have to pay Bond Money as per existing rules.”
This bond amount comes as a part of the clause that doctors would have to serve the Armed forces compulsorily. The bond fee is an amount payable at the time of admission in case the candidate decides to withdraw from the course after a specified window period.
Candidates admitted to AFMC for the MBBS course have a compulsory liability to serve as Commissioned Officers in the Armed Forces Medical Services. The offer of the type of commission will depend upon the vacancies available and shall be determined on merit-cum-option at the final MBBS examination. The liability of the SSC officers passing out of AFMC to serve in the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) would be 7 (seven) years. The Permanent Commission (PC) Officers will have to serve in AFMS till the date of superannuation. Complete details of the Service Liability & Bond Agreement will be given to the candidates shortlisted for the screening.
The Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) is a leading medical training institute in Pune, India, in the state of Maharashtra. The Indian Armed Forces manage the college. Established in May 1948 as a post-graduate teaching institution. The institution primarily imparts training to medical undergraduates and postgraduates, dental postgraduates, nursing cadets, and paramedical staff. Patient care forms an integral part of its training curriculum.
