UP Man duped of Rs 13 lakh in MBBS admission fraud
Lucknow: A person involved in cheating a man of Rs 13 lakhs on the pretext of promising MBBS admission for his daughter at a medical college in Uttar Pradesh was arrested by the Vibhuti Khand Police on Friday, March 3.
The accused, identified as Ashutosh opened a fake account and began trapping people with the promise of admission at various medical colleges in the state by claiming to have connections.
The complainant, Rakesh Singh of Bangla Bazaar in Aashiana was attempting to get his daughter at a medical college as she had not scored sufficient score in the NEET exam, following which he met Ashutosh at his office in Vibhuti Khand. The company assured him of a seat after which Rakesh deposited the money on December 5, 2022.
Then, on December 19, he received a call from the company asking him to pay the left-over amount of money and take the admission letter. Speaking to TOI, Rakesh said, "I paid the remaining sum and after this I was given an admission letter of a college in Faridabad. But when I reached there, the staff at the admission cell of the college found the letter as fake during the document verification. The college staff told me that the company had duped several persons and I met three persons each from Ghaziabad, Delhi and Unnao in UP, who were duped like me."
Stating that the police have registered a case against three accused, Ashutosh Singh, Keshav Sharma and Risabh Jaiswal under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), DCP, East Zone, Hirdesh Kumar said, "We arrested the prime accused Ashutosh Singh of Jaunpur during the investigation of the case. The miscreants had opened a fake company and used to lure people in the name of admission in MBBS in different colleges."
