Contractor duped of Rs 35 lakh on promise of MBBS seat at KIMS Bangalore
Bengaluru: In yet another case of MBBS seat fraud, an office bearer of Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha, a caste-based Hindu organisation in Bengaluru, has been booked by the police for cheating a contractor of Rs 35 lakh on the false promise of securing an MBBS seat at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences for their relative.
The complaint was filed by Shrinivas KR, a resident of Hanunantha Nagar, who had approached Manjegowda MB, an office-bearer of the sangha after the son of his relative could not get a seat through NEET.

Manjegowda told the complainant that he was close to the organization's president, who in turn could help them in securing an MBBS seat. However, he demanded Rs 35 lakh, following which Shrinivas gave the money to Manjegowda and his wife at a star hotel in Vasanth Nagar on March 7.
The complaint stated, "He had asked me to come to the president's chamber three days later. When I went there, Manjegowda asked me to come after a week. However, I got to know that the admission process was over and tried to contact Manjegowda but he was unavailable. Hence, I went to his residence in Mysuru where Manjegowda, his wife Meena, and one of his friends hurled filthy abuses and threatened me."
The accused, Manjegowda, Meena and others have been booked by the police under cheating, criminal intimidation and other charges, reports The New Indian Express. The police said, "We have summoned Manjegowda to appear for enquiry."
A similar case of MBBS seat fraud was reported by the Medical Dialogues team previously in which an FIR had been filed against three persons by the Trombay police for cheating a Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC) scientist of Rs 12.66 lakh on the pretext of getting his daughter an MBBS seat at the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Bengaluru.
