2 doctors from Kalpana Chawla Medical College killed, 3 injured after Nilgai hits car

Karnal: In a tragic road accident, two doctors, including the medical superintendent of Kalpana Chawla Government Medical College and Hospital (KCGMCH), lost their lives, and three others sustained injuries after their car collided with a nilgai on Jind Road.
The five doctors were on their way to Hisar to attend a wedding when their car, driven by a hired driver, met with an accident near the Bandrala bus stop. According to eyewitnesses, a running nilgai suddenly hit the car, smashing through the windshield and entering the vehicle with immense force. The impact left the car severely damaged and also led to the death of the two doctors and the animal.

The deceased, identified as Dr Vijaypal, medical superintendent at KCGMCH, and Dr Mohit Saini, a resident doctor and a PG student at the same medical college. Among the five doctors, Dr Saini who unfortunately died in the accident married a fellow medical officer in 2023.
"Dr Mohit was married a year ago. He was pursuing his MD and practising medicine simultaneously at Kalpana Chawla Medical Hospital in Karnal. Both families are in extreme shock," said a senior doctor at the hospital.
Following the accident, the five doctors were immediately rushed to Assandh Sub-Divisional Civil Hospital, where doctors declared Dr Vijaypal dead on arrival. Dr Saini, who was in critical condition, was referred to KCGMCH but succumbed to his injuries during treatment. The remaining injured are currently undergoing medical treatment.
A relative of the deceased Dr Mohit told TOI, "A group of five doctors were on their way to Hansi for a friend's wedding when a nilgai appeared on the road and collided with the car."
"One of them, Dr Vijay Pal, died on the spot, whereas the other four were immediately hospitalised. Dr Mohit was declared dead in the hospital, and the other three are under treatment," said the police.
When the police were informed of the situation, they immediately reached the spot and sent their bodies for postmortem examination. After the postmortem was completed, the police handed over their bodies to their respective families.
