400 doctors barred from practising in Gautam Buddha Nagar

Doctors
Gautam Buddha Nagar: The Uttar Pradesh Health Department has barred nearly 400 doctors from practising in Gautam Buddha Nagar after it found that they were registered in other states but had not completed the mandatory registration with the Uttar Pradesh Medical Council (UPMC).
According to official data, over 2,000 doctors are working in the district across hospitals, nursing homes, and private clinics. Out of these, around 400 are registered in states like Delhi and Haryana but have not completed the mandatory registration process in Uttar Pradesh.

It has been reported that the health department had previously directed doctors to register themselves under the UPMC, but many failed to comply. As a result, the government has decided not to allow such doctors to practice in the district.
Speaking to Hindustan on the matter, Deputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Chandan Soni said, "If doctors registered in other states are found practising here, strict action will be taken against them."
Meanwhile, the health department has already started issuing written notices to hospitals and doctors. Surprise inspections were also carried out in several clinics before the notices were served.
As per the Saralnama news report, the crackdown was aimed at ensuring compliance with medical laws and improving healthcare quality. Patients have been advised to check their doctor’s registration status before treatment.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Jammu and Kashmir Government barred six doctors for allegedly engaging in private practice during official duty hours and making unethical referrals to private Empanelled Health Care Providers (EHCPs). The disciplinary action followed a detailed investigation under the Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY/SEHAT Scheme.
Those found engaging in private practice during duty hours include a Consultant Surgeon at GMC Anantnag with 312 cases of unauthorized private practice, a Medical Officer at District Hospital Pulwama with 170 cases, and an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at GMC Anantnag with 185 cases.
