64 Bihar Medical Officers terminated for unauthorized absence for 5 years
Patna: The Bihar government has approved the dismissal of 64 erring medical officers for remaining absent from duty without authorisation for over five years.
The decision to this effect was taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday, following a proposal by the health department, officials said.

The doctors were posted in different districts, including Araria, Aurangabad, Banka, Bhagalpur, Bhojpur and Darbhanga.
“Sixty-four erring medical officers (doctors), who remained absent from duty without authorisation, have been dismissed from service.
“Before taking this step, employees concerned were given several opportunities to clear the reason for their absence, but they did not submit their replies. Government officials cannot remain absent from duty for more than five years in an unauthorised manner,” said S Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary (Cabinet Secretariat).
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that six medical officers and four paramedical employees received a strict warning for remaining absent from duty after the Deputy Commissioner of Tarn Taran, Rishipal Singh had conducted a surprise inspection at the Community Health Centre and the OOAT, Khemkaran.
The inspection found six medical officers and four paramedical employees to be absent from duty, following which the Deputy Commissioner (DC) issued a stern warning.
According to the DC, the absent medical officers were found to be Ridham (dental), Karanveer Singh, Deepak Madohar, Rajinder Kumar, Robanjit Singh and R Kaur. The others who were absent have been identified as Palwinder Kaur, Jugraj Singh, Kulwinder Singh and Varinderpal Singh, pharmacists at the OOAT clinic. The DC ordered the health department to take strict departmental action against the absentees.
