Amravati: Final year MS Orthopaedics medico found hanging in hotel room

Amravati: In a tragic incident, a 28-year-old final-year postgraduate doctor in the department of orthopaedics at Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh Medical College (PDMC), Amravati, was found hanging from the ceiling inside a hotel room.

The deceased was a native of Nashik who had completed his MBBS and was pursuing his MS in Orthopaedics. According to sources, he was known to be academically bright.

The reason behind his death is unknown, as no suicide note was recovered from the spot, and the police have launched an investigation to determine the circumstances that led him to take the extreme step.

As per the TOI news report, the incident took place at a hotel located on Shegaon–Rahatgaon Road on January 26. According to the police, the hotel room was booked on January 25 in the name of his friend. Both the doctor and his friend visited the room in the evening and left around 9.15 pm.

They returned to the hotel at around 1.10 am, after which the doctor's friend reportedly left the premises, leaving the doctor alone in the room. At about 4.30 am, the doctor allegedly came to the hotel reception and requested the staff to contact his friend, stating that his jacket and mobile phone were with his friend, who had taken them due to the cold.

Following this, the hotel staff attempted to call his friend, but the calls reportedly went unanswered, possibly because he was riding a two-wheeler at the time. Around 5.15 am, the doctor allegedly returned to his room.

Later, at around 7 am, a hotel employee noticed that the room door was not bolted from the inside. Upon checking, the staff found that the doctor was hanging inside the room and immediately alerted the authorities.

After being informed, his friend returned to the hotel and contacted the police. A team from Nandgaon Peth police station, led by In-charge Dinesh Dahatonde, reached the spot. Senior police officials, along with faculty members and students from PDMC, also arrived at the hotel after learning about the incident.

An investigation in this regard is underway.
