Amritsar: Doctor allegedly commits suicide, 8 booked for abetment
Amritsar: A registered medical practitioner has committed suicide as he hung himself from a ceiling fan at the Ladhewal village on Friday evening due to alleged pressure and harassment over loan taken from moneylenders. The village comes under the jurisdiction of the Gharinda police station.
As per a media report in the Tribune India, a suicide note was found near the body by the family. The family members alleged that the practitioner had taken a loan from some persons, following which he was harassed by the accused for returning the amount.

The police booked eight persons under the charges of abetment to suicide on the basis of the suicide note found on the spot. The accused have been identified as Jagdeep Singh of Jathaul village, Pankaj Arora of Swami Medical Store in Katra Sher Singh area, Parvej, Kanwaljit Singh, Sukhraj Singh of Guru Nanak Medical Store at Khasa, Bittu of Rajatal village, Malkit Singh of Bhaje village and Gurdev Singh of Gandiwind village. A case under section 306 of the IPC was also filed against them, however, the police haven't made any arrests.
The practitioner's brother had found his body when he went to the former's room where he was found hanging from the ceiling fan. After that, the brother immediately raised an alarm, and all the family members came together.
When he was taken down, he was already dead. The family found a suicide note inside the clothes' pocket while searching, in which he held all the booked eight persons responsible for his suicide.
According to the investigating officer ASI Harpal Singh, the deceased person had taken around Rs 20 lakh as loans from the accused. However, he was finding it difficult to pay back the loan amount. The family members said that he was accused of this, and the harassment allegedly led him to end his life.
Further, the suicide note has been sent for forensic examination die to which the police could not make any arrests, reports the Tribune India. The investigating officer said that appropriate action would be taken only after getting the forensic examination report of the suicide note and the final autopsy report.
