Ayurveda doctor sets flat on fire in fit of rage, FIR filed
Chhatrapati Sambhahinagar: In a shocking incident, a quarrel between a doctor couple in Nalanda turned ugly when the disagreement between the two escalated to a point where the wife, in a fit of rage, set their apartment on fire.
After setting the flat on fire, the doctor's wife left for her parent's house. The neighbours quickly called the fire department when they saw flames coming from the apartment, and after a two-hour struggle, the situation was effectively handled.

As per a media report in ETV Bharat, the woman doctor set fire to the bed and cupboard in the bedroom resulting in a rapid spread of flames that engulfed the entire room. However, due to the quick intervention of the fire brigade, the neighbouring residents were spared from life-threatening injuries.
The doctor couple identified as a 40-year-old consultant neurologist at a private hospital and his wife, a professor at an Ayurvedic college have been fighting since Sunday evening. Following this, the husband and the wife decided to stay apart until their fight was resolved. Therefore, they reached out to a common friend.
Zone II Deputy Commissioner of Police Navneet Kanwat told TOI, " The incident occurred in Nalanda's apartment, located in Mahajan Colony, N-2, Cidco. When the couple’s argument was heating up on Sunday evening, they contacted a common family friend (also a doctor). It was then decided that the wife would stay back in the friend’s hospital for the night — so that things could cool down — and his husband would return to their flat in Nalanda's apartment."
"It could have caused significant loss of life and property, and even the other residents of the apartment had been put at serious risk," he added.
Following the incident, the doctor filed a complaint at the Mukundwadi police against his wife and an FIR was registered accordingly.
A case has been registered under IPC Sections 435 (mischief with fire or explosive with intent to cause damage) and 427 (mischief causing damage) against her and an investigation is underway into the case.
