Bengaluru radiologist accused of rape, casteist abuse and blackmail of staffer
Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-based radiologist has been booked for allegedly raping a 30-year-old woman staff member after spraying pepper spray on her and later blackmailing her with photographs and videos of the incident and subjecting her to casteist remarks, police said.
According to the news reports, the alleged incident took place on December 15, 2025, at the doctor’s diagnostic laboratory. The woman, who worked at the laboratory, alleged that the doctor took her there around 11 am on the pretext of searching for some files before spraying pepper spray on her face, causing her to lose consciousness.

She alleged that she regained consciousness around 11.30 am and found herself naked. When she questioned the doctor, he allegedly threatened her, claiming that he had recorded a video of the incident and would upload it on social media if she disclosed what had happened.
The woman further alleged that the doctor later rented a house where he repeatedly sexually assaulted her. She claimed that he visited the house frequently and continued to threaten her with the alleged photographs and videos to prevent her from speaking about the assaults. According to her complaint, the doctor also sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions under the false promise of marriage.
The complainant also alleged that on July 2, 2026, the doctor came to know that she belonged to a Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe community and allegedly subjected her to caste-based abuse. She claimed that he told her that he no longer wanted to be associated with her and threatened to terminate her employment.
“After coming to know my caste, he not only refused to marry me but also threatened to make the videos and the photographs of our intimate moments public,” the survivor added, reports TNIE.
A friend of the complainant also alleged that the doctor’s mother had refused to allow him to marry the woman. The friend claimed that the doctor had used the alleged recordings to blackmail her and that she had also received life threats.
Based on the complaint, the jurisdictional police registered a case on September 3 under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita charges related to rape, criminal intimidation and intentional insult, and relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Speaking to the Indian Express, a police official said, “Since the case involves offences under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, it has been transferred to the Directorate of Civil Rights Enforcement for further investigation.”
The 42-year-old radiologist was subsequently taken into custody from the diagnostic centre. Police said the management of the diagnostic centre has also removed him from his job following the complaint. The woman is said to have stopped working at the centre around one and a half months ago.
Police are investigating the allegations, and further legal action is expected based on the findings of the investigation.
