Bihar: Nepalese Doctor abducted 10 days ago for Rs 3 Lakh ransom, two held
Bettiah: A Nepalese doctor living in Bagaha district who had been abducted and kept hostage for nearly 10 days was rescued and his two abductors were arrested, said the police on Tuesday.
As per a media report in the Hindustan Times, the doctor who is from Nepal was abducted and kept in the Bihar's West Champaran district.
Bagaha sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) Kailash Prasad on Tuesday said that the doctor was rescued from a house in Malakauli. He was kidnapped on May 1 and held captive for a ransom of Rs 3 lakh ransom.
The sub-divisional police officer said received a tip-off on Saturday night following which they searched the house as part of an operation. Prasad added, "In the course of the investigation, we came to know that abductors took him to different locations namely Yogapatti near Lauriya, Pathkauli, and Malakauli, and tortured him."
Lal Babu Prasad, officer-in-charge of Pathakauli police outpost said that they are further searching for the accomplices of the kidnappers in this case.
The doctor who is originally from Nepal's Nawalparasi district had settled in the West Champaran district's Bagaha subdivision.
The doctor told the reporters that he was kidnapped by Lappu Tiwari, the suspect who is still missing. His two accomplices, Saket Pathak and Santosh Shrivastav, who are from the area, have been arrested. The doctor told the HT, "They would have sold my kidney had I been not rescued from their clutches."
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported a similar case where the Bandra police had registered an FIR for kidnapping against unidentified persons after a third-year MBBS student studying at the government-run Grant Medical College (GMC), also known as JJ hospital went missing.
