Compounder plants spy camera in clinic, blackmails doctor with videos, held
Mumbai: A compounder and her boyfriend have been arrested by the Mumbai crime branch for allegedly recording an intimate video of a doctor with her boyfriend by installing a spy camera inside the doctor's clinic and blackmailing her to pay Rs 5 lakh.
The accused threatened the doctor to post her private videos on social media and send it to her family members if she failed to pay them.

The incident took place on November 26. An official told The Indian Express, "The doctor is married but was having an affair with a man who stays in Oman. Recently the man had come to Mumbai to meet her and went to her clinic."
The compounder who worked in the clinic bought a spy camera and installed it inside the doctor's clinic since she knew about the alleged affair. An officer added, "When the doctor and her male friend were alone in the room, they were recorded on the camera."
According to a media report in the Times of India, the accused compounder downloaded the videos and showed it to her partner, and the latter began calling and texting the doctor on WhatsApp making a demand of Rs 5 lakh. They had bought a new SIM card from which they sent the video to the doctor on November 29.
The accused threatened the doctor that they would sent the videos to her relatives and post it on social media if she refused to pay the money. The doctor went to the Sahu Nagar police station to file a complaint, who in turn laid a trap for the accused couple at Bandra.
The police said that the doctor and her partner were threatened by the accused for four day continuously, after which she approached the police station where a case was registered on December 3.
In the trap, the police told the doctor to tell the accused that she was willing to pay the money. "The police had planned to lay a trap and catch the extortionist", said an officer. However, when the accused got to know about the trap, they sent the video to one of the doctor's acquaintances.
The crime branch officials intervened and found the male accused. An officer stated, "We went through the call data record and from his social media account we got his picture, after which we laid a trap and nabbed him from his house in Ghatkopar."
The police arrested the accused duo after studying the call detail records. The accused admitted to making such demands.
The compounder and her boyfriend were arrested by the crime branch unit 5, led by inspector Ghanshyam Nair, on Saturday. They eventually handed them over to Dharavi police for further action. The officials seized the spy camera, memory card and mobile phone used to make the extortion.
The accused were booked under sections for extortion, blackmailing and criminal intimidation of the IPC, along with charges under the Information Technology Act.
