Death of 10 year old child following fever: BAMS doctor booked for medical negligence under IPC 304A
Nashik: Taking note of a medical negligence complaint regarding the death of a 10-year-old child in 2019, the district court, here ordered the Ambad police to register an FIR against a Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery (BAMS) doctor and investigate the matter.
Acting on the court's order, the police on Friday registered an FIR against the doctor for offences punishable under Section 304A (causing death due to negligence) of the IPC.
The case pertains to a 10-year-old child, a resident of Satpur-Ambad Link Road who was suffering from a fever following which his father, the complainant took him to a hospital in Ambad in September 2019.

Accusing the doctor of medical negligence, the complaint alleged that there was a failure to accurately diagnose his son's illness, resulting in hasty treatment that ultimately led to his passing.
After the demise of his son, the complainant asserted that he made an effort to register an FIR against the doctor, but the authorities failed to establish a case. As a result, he lodged a complaint of medical negligence against the doctor in the district court.
A case has been registered and the police are currently investigating the case. The doctor in question in this case will be arrested if found guilty of malpractice leading to the child's death.
Speaking to TOI, the police said "The doctor would soon be called for interrogation and if the need arises, he could also be arrested."
