Dereliction of Duty: Medical Officer faces suspension, another under radar of JnK Health Dept
Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Health Department recently suspended a Medical Officer (MO) with immediate effect and initiated action for immediate termination against another Medical officer on the charges of dereliction of duties.
The two doctors who have come under the radar of the health department for neglecting their duties include - Dr Nadeem Ahmad Tantray and Dr Zahoor Ahmad.
An order issued by the Secretary of the Health and Medical Education Department, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah on January 31 mentioned "Pending enquiry into his conduct/dereliction of duties, Dr Nadeem Ahmad Tantray, Medical Officer, Primary Health Centre (PHC) Afti, is hereby placed under suspension with immediate effect in terms of Rule 31 of the Jammu and Kashmir Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1956."

Throughout the period of the suspension, Dr Nadeem Ahmad Tantray, Medical Officer, has been assigned to the Office of Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar.
Further, the order reads, "Consequent upon above, the Director, Health Services, Jammu shall immediately deploy two doctors on an internal arrangement basis to ensure that the institution (PHC Afti) remains fully functional by way of the availability of doctors."
Meanwhile, the health department on the same day ordered to initiate the process of termination of services of Dr Zahoor Ahmad.
In a separate order, Dr Syed Abid Rasheed Shah on January 31 stated "Pending enquiry into his conduct, Dr Zahoor Ahmad, Medical Officer, (RBSK), National Health Mission, J&K, is hereby attached in the Office of the Chief Medical Officer, Kishtwar with immediate effect.
The Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K shall immediately initiate the process of termination of services of the said doctor for dereliction of duties."
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that ten months after two doctors were banned due to allegations of indulging in private practice across the state, the Jammu and Kashmir Health & Medical Education Department lifted the ban on these two doctors from the Government Medical College Baramulla.
The decision was made after the inquiry committee provided a detailed report based on a careful examination of the issue. The doctors were prohibited from conducting private practice across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.
