The accused gave the complainant his restaurant which was located on the Cheemabagh village turn, following an agreement bond signed between them till the accused returned the money. The restaurant was run by the complainant after that.
However, on the late evening of October 29, the accused came to the restaurant in a drunken state, began fighting with them and kicked them out of the restaurant. The complainant further stated that the accused attempted suicide two days later to acquire the entire amount and implicated them in a false case.
The accused had taken a poisonous substance and got admitted to a private hospital in Rayya, as per a media report in the Tribune.
The police had registered a case against the doctor and three other accused in connection with this case, under sections 309, 511 and 120-B of the IPC. The investigating officer, ASI Sukhwinder Singh said that investigations are ongoing and no arrest has been made yet in this regard.
The Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported about a case where six persons including a doctor were arrested trying to smuggle Codeine Based Cough Syrup (CBCS) also known by the nickname "Lean" and "Sizzurp" in narcotics circles, across the Indo-Bangladesh border. The NCB Kolkata Zone officials, after getting a tip-off had conducted raids in Barrackpore and arrested the six, who are allegedly part of a syndicate involved in smuggling Codeine syrup, much preferred by drug addicts looking for a quick high, across the Indo-Bangladesh border.
