Doctor beaten up by Quacks for complaining about fake clinic
Ranipet: In a shocking incident, a medical practitioner belonging to Tamil Nadu recently got beaten up by two quacks after the doctor complained about them to the Chief Minister's Special Cell.
Those two quacks identified as Rafik alias Ravichandran and Azeez came to the clinic of the doctor and beat him up. Due to this, the medical practitioner, Dr. Vignesh received multiple injuries and he had to receive treatment in a Government Hospital.
Although the accused persons were booked and arrested, they were released by bail on the same day. Extending its support to the doctor, the Indian Medical Association (IMA) Tamil Nadu State Branch yesterday wrote to the Director General of Police of the State and requested for issuing proper directions to the police officials in this regard.
Meanwhile, the Indian Medical Association Junior Doctors' Network and Medical Students' Network in Tamil Nadu have also expressed their support to the doctor.

Issuing a statement in this regard, the associations mentioned, "We are deeply concerned and express our condemnation of a recent incident that has happened at Ranipet which has been brought to our attention. Dr. Vignesh MBBS was brutally attacked by quacks in the clinic during his practice which was a heinous act to be carried out in broad daylight. This was carried out as a retaliation since Dr. Vignesh courageously exposed the unauthorized medical practice of these quacks whose actions pose a significant threat to public health and safety. IMA stands with our junior doctor Vignesh and is ready to support him in all possible ways."
According to the police complaint, which is doing rounds on Twitter, the accused attackers are running a clinic and fake doctors are treating the patient. This issue was taken up by Dr, Vignesh to the Chief Minister's Special Division.
Consequently, the accused persons entered the doctor's clinic without permission and started abusing the doctor for complaining about them. The argument got escalated and they beat up Dr. Vignesh. Along with the copy of the complaint, a video is also circulating where two persons can be seen in an argument with the person holding the camera and at the end of the video they start beating up the person.
Based on the complaint by the doctor, a case u/s 448, 294(b), 323, 506(I) of IPC was registered. Referring to the incident, IMA Tamil Nadu wrote to the Director General of Police (Law & Order) and and pointed out how Dr. Vignesh was assaulted by the two accused, who were conducting Allopathic Medical Practice as quacks in Kalavai, Ranipet District, on 31.08.2023 at the clinic of Dr. Vignesh.
"A complaint was lodged at Ranipet Police Station on the same day. FIR was registered both persons were arrested & submitted in the court. But they were released by issued the bail on the same day. Dr. Vignesh complained to CM Special cell regarding allopathic practice of the accused without any proper qualifications which is the reason for this attack. Dr. Vignesh was injured with multiple injuries & took treatment in Government Hospital," the letter further mentioned.
Pointing out that the brutal attack on the doctor that happened in a hospital comes under the act "Prohibition of violence against Medicare service persons and damage or loss to property of Medicare services institutions" GO NO 48 of 2008, the association further added in the letter, "So on behalf of Indian Medical Association Tamil Nadu State Branch we request to you kindly give appropriate instruction to the concerned police officials to change the section under the Act 48 of 2008."
Sharing the incident, the Twitter handle of Indian Doctor mentioned, "It's govt responsibility to remove quacks from cities & towns so that people can get best treatments & reduce misuse of antibiotics."
