Doctor turned Minister Ravjot Singh performs CPR, saves Elderly man

Bathinda: In a heartwarming moment that has won widespread praise online, Punjab Cabinet Minister and skilled doctor, Dr. Ravjot Singh, used his medical skills to save an elderly man who collapsed during a public event in Bathinda.
A video capturing the incident went viral on social media, which showed Dr Singh giving CPR chest compressions to the elderly man until he regained consciousness. Then he carefully lifts the patient's legs to boost blood flow. Thanks to his timely intervention, the man survived and was later taken to a nearby hospital for a further checkup.
The incident happened during a "naksha mela", a site plan distribution drive organised by the Bathinda Municipal Corporation. The event, aimed at handing over property site plans to owners. Dr. Ravjot, who is also the minister of Aam Aadmi Party, attended the event along with MLA from Sham Chaurasi in Hoshiarpur, Mayor Padamjit Singh Mehta and other civic officials.

Despite the intense summer heat, the minister was interacting with the public when he noticed an elderly man suddenly faint and fall on the stairs. Without wasting any time, the doctor rushed to the man’s side and began giving him CPR. He also massaged the man's hands and feet to stimulate circulation.
His quick intervention immediately saved the life of a man. Immediately after, helpers carry the man to the ambulance. Soon, he was sent to a nearby hospital for a further checkup.
A video of the moment was shared on social media by @AAPPunjab on X (formerly Twitter) with the caption- “Cabinet Minister Doctor @RavjotDr16124 fulfilled his duty as a doctor. Life of elderly man saved after fainting during Bathinda tour.”
The clip quickly went viral, with many people applauding the minister’s calmness, skill, and presence of mind.
Speaking to TOI after the incident, Ravjot Singh, who holds an MD in medicine, said, "Saving lives is always a priority. Even in public service, I carry my medical training with me. I believe every young person should be trained in basic first aid—it can make all the difference in emergencies."
