Doctors' body alleges financial expolitation, bias in Rajasthan medical colleges

Jaipur: The resident doctors in Rajasthan have raised concerns about the alleged financial exploitation faced by non-service resident doctors in all RajMES-affiliated colleges for three years and the discriminatory stance taken against the students of Udaipur and Kota medical college.
According to Careers 360, Doctors under the Doctors Welfare Federation (DWF) have highlighted these issues in two separate statements and raised concerns regarding the non-payment of House Rental Allowance (HRA) to non-service residents in all colleges under the Rajasthan Medical Education Society (RajMES), and the alleged discriminatory treatment of students at Udaipur and Kota medical colleges.
Referring to the issue of non-payment of rental allowance of Rs 5,000 per month for the non-service resident doctors in RajMES colleges, the National Director of DWF, Zakir Khan, termed it as "persistent injustice".
It has been reportedly alleged that the non-service residents are not getting the allowance despite the Rajasthan State Government's existing order to provide the same to them.
In this regard, the official government order states, "Residents who are not in Government service and are not allotted hostel accommodation is allowed extra stipend of rupees 5000 per month w.e.f. 01.06.2023 subject to the conditions that extra stipend shall only be sanctioned in cases where hostel accommodation of Medical College does not remain vacant / the incumbent has not denied acceptance of the hostel accommodation allotted to them."
Referring to this, Dr Khan said that not paying rental allowance to non-service resident doctors is a clear violation of government directives, and it results in prolonged economic exploitation of resident doctors.

As per the latest media report by Careers 360, Khan also urged the Commissioner of RajMES, Iqbal Khan to ensure immediate disbursement of all pending HRA allowance to non-service residents and issue clear directions to RAJMES to guarantee regular and timely payment of allowance in the future.
Another issue that association has highlighted is the alleged bias against Udaipur and Kota students. The National President of DWF (Resident Wing), Vikas Bamnia, pointed out that the issue is faced by the resident students of RNT Medical College Udaipur and Government Medical College Kota.
After the unfortunate demise of Dr Ravi Sharma at Udaipur Medical College, the resident students held a strike. Later, this protest period was duly adjusted as leave for students of Bikaner, Ajmer, and Jhalawar Medical Colleges. However, the association President Bamnia pointed out that in a clear act of bias and prejudice, the same relief was not extended to students of Udaipur and Kota medical colleges.
Commenting on the matter, he said, "This unfair and discriminatory stance is completely unjust and condemnable." Therefore, he urged the State Government to issue directions to the college administration to regularise the attendance of all resident students of Udaipur and Kota medical colleges.
