Dr Bharat Gopal joins Medanta Hospital as Senior Director-Interventional Pulmonology

Gurugram: Renowned Pulmonologist, Dr Bharat Gopal, has recently joined Medanta Hospital in Gurugram as the Senior Director- Interventional Pulmonology in the Department of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine.

With over 25 years of experience, Dr Gopal is widely recognised both nationally and internationally as the leading expert in Respiratory Medicine, Critical Care, and Interventional Pulmonology. He has been a pioneer in introducing advanced technologies like Endobronchial Ultrasound, Cryo-Lung Biopsies and Pleuroscopies.

Dr Gopal carries over two decades of clinical excellence in the field of Respiratory disorders, Nasobronchial Allergies, sleep-disordered Breathing & Respiratory Infections, including TB and COVID. Over the years, he has treated thousands of patients suffering from severe bronchial asthma, COPD, lung fibrosis, including HSP, and other chest infections. He has also played an active role in training doctors across the country and contributed significantly to national clinical guidelines.

Known for his calm and patient-first approach, Dr Gopal focuses on long-term recovery and prevention. He is now available for consultations at Medanta Medicity, Gurugram on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, he will consult at The Mediclinic in Defence Colony, New Delhi. His OPD timings are from 10 am to 4 pm.

An alumnus of Maulana Azad Medical College, Dr Gopal holds an MD in Respiratory Medicine from Vallabhbhai Patel Chest Institute and a DNB in Pulmonary Medicine. He also completed a fellowship in Interventional Pulmonology in Italy under Prof Stefano Gasparini.

Dr Gopal is a Fellow of the American College of Chest Physicians (USA), the Asia Pacific Society of Respirology, and the National College of Chest Physicians (India). He has received several awards, including the Young Scientist Award, Vashisht Chikitsa Ratna Award and Best Doctor Award from the Indian Medical Association (Delhi State).

Dr. Gopal has authored over 30 publications and textbook chapters and has trained hundreds of doctors through the Pulmo-Pathshala series. He has a special interest in managing Difficult-to-Control Asthma with the use of Biologicals, Post-COVID Lung Issues and continues to be involved as a Primary Investigator in many clinical trials.
