Dr S K Sarkar honoured with Lifetime Achievement award at ISTSCON 2025

Jaipur: Eminent thoracic surgeon Dr. S. K. Sarkar was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the Indian Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ISTS) and Trust on October 10 for his remarkable and pioneering contributions to the field of thoracic surgery in India.
The honour was presented during the Seventh International Conference of the Indian Society of Thoracic Surgeons (ISTSCON 2025), held at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Jodhpur. The three-day event concluded on October 11, 2025.
The Conference was organized by the Department of General Surgery, AIIMS Jodhpur, and aimed to provide a platform for thoracic surgeons to come together and exchange knowledge and experiences. This event will feature a diverse range of topics, including the latest advancements in thoracic surgeries, innovations in surgical techniques, and updates on research in the field.
According to organising secretary Dr. Ramkaran Chaudhary, the conference saw participation from over 450 experts, including thoracic surgeons, pulmonologists, anaesthesiologists, and researchers from India and abroad, reports Times of India. Centred on the theme “From Scalpel to Robotics: The Evolving Horizons of Thoracic Surgery,” the conference focused on the latest developments, innovative technologies, and global insights shaping the future of thoracic surgical practice.
Dr. S.K. Sarkar, a renowned thoracic surgeon based in Jaipur, has more than 51 years of experience. He worked at Dr. Sarkar's Bronchoscopy Centre currently. He has previously practised medicine at SMS Medical College & Hospital. He specialises in Interventional Diagnostic, Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting, Cardiac Ablation, Heart Transplant, General Surgery, and Coronary Angiogram. Dr. S.K. Sarkar has been a member of Fellow of the International Academy of Cardiovascular Sciences and the National Academy of Medical Sciences. Dr. S.K. Sarkar pursued his MBBS from Sawai Mansingh Medical College, Jaipur (SMS College). After that, Dr S.K. Sarkar went on to take MCh - Thoracic Surgery from Sawai Mansingh (SMS) Medical College, Jaipur.
