Dr Sandeep Budhiraja Conferred Fellowship Diploma by Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow

Glasgow: Dr Sandeep Budhiraja, Group Medical Director of Max Healthcare and Senior Director of the Institute of Internal Medicine, has been conferred the Fellowship Diploma of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow in recognition of his contributions to healthcare, clinical governance and medical leadership.
The Fellowship Diploma was presented to Dr Budhiraja by Professor Hany Eteiba, President of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, during his visit to the College.
The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow congratulated Dr Budhiraja on the honour and recognised his achievements in healthcare and medical leadership.
Dr Sandeep Budhiraja serves as Group Medical Director of Max Healthcare, where he oversees medical quality, clinical governance, research and medical education, and clinical data analytics across the organisation’s network of hospitals.
Max Healthcare currently operates more than 21 hospitals with over 6,000 beds and has more than 5,800 clinicians across India.
With over 32 years of experience in Internal Medicine, Dr Budhiraja also serves as Senior Director of the Institute of Internal Medicine at Max Healthcare. He joined Max Healthcare as a Consultant Physician in January 2001 and is a founding member of the organisation.
His academic and professional qualifications include MBBS, MD (Internal Medicine), DNB (Internal Medicine), MRCP (UK), FACP and FRCP (Edin). He has also been associated with the National Academy of Medical Sciences, India.
His areas of professional expertise include Internal Medicine, immunology and rheumatology, and gastroenterology and hepatology. During his career, he has contributed to the management of acute and chronic medical illnesses, autoimmune and inflammatory disorders, liver and gastrointestinal diseases, metabolic and lifestyle-related disorders, and complex chronic conditions.
Dr Budhiraja has also contributed to academic research in the fields of hepatitis and gastrointestinal disease.He also received research-related recognition for work on the role of Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection in sporadic non-A, non-B hepatitis cases and for a prospective study examining risk factors and the role of Helicobacter pylori in chronic duodenal ulcer disease.
Over the course of his career, Dr Budhiraja has received several professional and academic honours. These include the Chairman’s Award from Max Healthcare in 2002 and the Healthcare Leadership Award presented by the Knowledge Resource Development & Welfare Group in 2012.
He has been honoured on multiple occasions by the Delhi Medical Association and the Indian Medical Association in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the field of medicine.
Dr Budhiraja was also nominated by the Delhi Government for the Padma Awards in 2021 in recognition of his contributions, including his work during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He is also a recipient of the Phoenix Award for Health Innovation at Health AI Con 2026, organised by Medical Dialogues.
The conferment of the Fellowship Diploma marks another significant recognition of Dr Budhiraja’s longstanding contributions to Internal Medicine, healthcare quality and medical leadership..
