Dr Sanjay Kumar elected President of Neuro Science Association of Eastern India

Ranchi: Renowned neuro and spine surgeon Dr. Sanjay Kumar, who also serves as the Managing Director of Curesta Hospital, Ranchi has reached a significant milestone by being elected as the President of the Neuro Science Association of Eastern India.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar, is a distinguished figure in the realm of neurosurgery and spine surgery, boasting over 30+ years of invaluable experience. Renowned for his expertise in micro neurosurgery and minimally invasive spinal surgery, Dr. Sanjay Kumar stands as a beacon of excellence in his field.

Having served as the association's secretary for many years, Dr Sanjay Kumar has now been elected as the President, presenting him with the opportunity to take on new challenges and further enhance the association's growth and impact.

Apart from his new role, Dr Kumar is also the Secretary of the Jharkhand Neurosciences Society and holds the position of President at the Jharkhand PHD Chamber of Commerce of India, The Jharkhand Story reports.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar embarked on his academic journey at Patna Medical College, where he earned his MBBS degree, before furthering his studies with an MS in General Surgery from Pt JNM Medical College, Raipur. His thirst for knowledge led him to pursue a prestigious MCh in Neurosurgery at Grant Medical College & Sir J. J. Hospital, Mumbai, a decision that would shape his illustrious career.

Following his academic pursuits, Dr. Sanjay Kumar began his professional voyage as a Lecturer in Neurosurgery at Grant Medical College & Sir J. J. Hospital, Bombay. He honed his skills further during his tenure at Bombay Hospital, Mumbai, gaining invaluable experience along the way.

In 2004, Dr. Sanjay Kumar embarked on a mission to expand access to specialized neurosurgical care in rural India. He spearheaded the establishment of the Department of Neurosurgery at ARAM Memorial Weavers Hospital, Apollo Group Hospitals, in Irba, Ranchi, Jharkhand. His efforts culminated in the inauguration of a dedicated operation theatre and Neuro ICU, a significant milestone in rural healthcare.

Driven by his passion for advancing neurosurgical services, Dr. Sanjay Kumar continued his journey by founding the Institute of Neurosciences at Bhagwan Mahavir MEDICA Superspecialty Hospital in Ranchi in 2014. His visionary leadership as Medical Director and later as Vice Chairman elevated the institution to new heights, setting a benchmark for excellence in neuro care.

In 2022, Dr. Sanjay Kumar embarked on a new chapter, joining Paras HEC Hospital, Ranchi, as Medical Director. With his expertise, he played a pivotal role in shaping the hospital’s trajectory towards offering superlative specialized services.

Dr. Sanjay Kumar, Vice Chairman of Neurosurgery at the Institute of Neurosciences, is a distinguished figure in the field of neurosurgery. He currently contributes his expertise to the Curesta Group of Hospitals in Ranchi, Jharkhand, where he continues to advance the standards of patient care and neurosurgical innovation.

His exemplary career includes a notable past role as Vice Chairman of Neurosurgery at Paras HEC Hospital in Ranchi, where he significantly impacted the field before transitioning to his current position at Curesta. Dr. Kumar’s dedication to pushing the boundaries of neurosurgical practice remains unwavering.

Dr Sanjay Kumar’s areas of expertise encompass a wide spectrum of neurosurgical interventions, including head and spinal injuries, brain haemorrhage, congenital malformations, brain and spine tumour surgeries, skull-base surgery, pediatric neurosurgery, stereotactic brain surgery, and stroke management.
