Eminent anesthesiologist Dr Siddha S C Chakrarao to be honoured for promoting Resuscitation therapy
Dr Chakrarao who is the chairman of Indian resuscitation council and Chairman of standing committee of Resuscitation will receive the award at a special conference of the Indian Medical Council at Patna on December 28.
Kakinada: Noted anesthesiologist and Trauma care specialist in this port city Dr Siddha S.C.Chakrarao has been selected for awarding of the prestigious Dr AKN Sinha National Award in recognition of his medical services saving thousands of valuable lives by promoting the Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) therapy in India.
Dr Chakrarao who is the chairman of Indian resuscitation council and Chairman of standing committee of Resuscitation will receive the award at a special conference of the Indian Medical council at Patna on December 28.

Dr Chakrarao who is the retired additional director of medical and health is now conducting a survey cum awareness programme on CPR therapy with a view to further popularize it so that valuable lives can be saved.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation therapy is to be learned by everyone, even common man without any formal education, as it is a very simple technique to revive the heart functioning whenever a patient suffers a heart attack.
It works like a first aid and survives until the patient reaches the hospital within one hour known to be the golden hour. Efforts are being made to involve the school children , people of other professions and laymen with the slogan ` two hands can save lives ', Dr Chakrarao said .
He stressed the need for an awareness programme on CPR should reach the entire population and according to survey of 2016 less than two percent of Indians know CPR therapy, he added.
