Four doctors terminated in Uttar Pradesh over absence from duty
Lucknow: Four doctors in Uttar Pradesh were issued termination orders on Tuesday after they were found to be absent from duty for more than a year without any official permission.
Deputy chief minister Brajesh Pathak directed the concerned authorities to terminate the services of the doctors. A departmental inquiry revealed that the doctors remained absent from duty for more than a year, with no response to calls and no proper explanation for their absence.
As per a media report in TOI, "The government will not tolerate any kind of indiscipline and strict action will be taken against those who violate the rules," said the minister.
The deputy minister also issued other directions. The chief medical officer of Kushinagar was directed to take action against a doctor who was involved in private practice during duty hours and was transferred to another community health centre. The chief medical officer of Gonda, as per the instruction of the minister, issued suspension orders to a computer operator who demanded bribe for providing birth certificates.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that following a surprise inspection at a New Type Primary Health Centre (NTPHC) in Gushi by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kupwara, two doctors and three paramedics were suspended after they were found absent from their duty during the commissioner's visit. The instructions were given by the District Development Commissioner Kupwara, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Kupwara, as the employees were found to be absent without taking any permission from the official authorities. The salary of the five employees for the month of January 2023 has also been withheld till further directions.
