Fraud organization dupes 10 Medical Aspirants parents of Rs 1.8 crore
Bengaluru: In another MBBS seat scam, a fraud organization has recently been reported to the police for defrauding 10 students and their parents out of Rs. 1.81 crore for a medical seat.
One of the victim's parents claimed that his daughter passed NEET in 2021 and applied for a medical seat. Soon, the members of the organization contacted him in November assuring him that they would get his daughter a medical seat. The organization alleged that as the seat would be under Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA), it would cost Rs 60 lakh. They said that demand drafts should be used to make the payments.
The police told TNIE, "He went to the firm's office and paid Rs 18 lakh. In February, they informed him that his daughter has been allotted a seat at Sridevi Medical College in Tumakuru and asked him to pay Rs 15 lakh, of which he paid Rs 10 lakh in cash. They claimed he would get a confirmation email within a few days but no mail came. When he went to the office to check, it was closed. A few others too have been cheated similarly,"
Help Desk for You Services, located at Barton Centre on MG Road, was later accused by him of defrauding him of a medical seat for his daughter. After that, he went to the Cubbon Park police last week and filed a complaint against the fraud organization.

The police warned the parents of the students to not fall for these third-party organizations in the future and should always keep their eyes and ears open before attempting to do anything.
According to the police, the organization cheated students and parents from Punjab, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand, and Telangana as well. "We have taken up a cheating case and are investigating," said the police.
