Bidar: After being found guilty in a medical negligence case, an obstetrician and gynaecologist at the Government Mother and Child Hospital in Basava Kalyana has been suspended and transferred to another healthcare facility on charges of dereliction of duty.

The action was taken following the death of a pregnant woman who suffered excessive bleeding after delivering a baby at the Basava Kalyana hospital. An enquiry conducted into the matter found the doctor guilty, leading to his suspension, Deccan Herald reports.
The order also directed the doctor not to leave headquarters without prior permission from the competent authority.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announced that orders have been issued for the termination of 26 medical officers across various districts due to unauthorised absences and negligence in their duties.
Medical Dialogues also reported that six government doctors came under scrutiny after Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav accused them of corruption, absenteeism, dereliction of duty and issuing illegal disability certificates. The accusations were based on findings from multiple investigation reports highlighting their misconduct.
