High Court directs GMC to Appoint doctor as Asst Prof within 15 days
Jabalpur: Providing relief to a doctor, the Madhya Pradesh High Court recently directed a Government Medical College to issue appointment letter to the doctor, who had successfully got selected by for the post of Assistant Professor at the institute.
Although the result was declared in February, the doctor did not get her appointment letter and taking note of the same the HC bench comprising of Justice Sanjay Dwivedi directed to appoint the doctor within a period of 15 days.
"In view of the above, this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3 to take appropriate step for giving appointment to the selected candidates including the petitioner without wasting any further time. If there is any obstacle in giving the appointment, the reasons be recorded and communicated to the petitioner," noted the bench.
As per the latest media report by Live Law, the petitioner doctor had appeared for the interview round for the post of Assistant Professor in a Government Medical College at Vidisha District.
She cleared the interview and got selected for the post, and the result was declared on 15.02.2022. However, even after 40 days of result, the appointment had not been made. The counsel for the petitioner alleged that the authorities were trying to recruit some other candidate for the post due to political pressure, adds Live Law.
The petitioner doctor's counsel submitted that the concerned institute was already running short of Assistant Professors and despite that fact, the college did not appoint the doctor causing undue hardship to the students at large.
Taking note of all these facts, the bench provided relief to the doctor and noted, "In view of the above, this petition is disposed of with a direction to respondent No.3 to take appropriate step for giving appointment to the selected candidates including the petitioner without wasting any further time. If there is any obstacle in giving the appointment, the reasons be recorded and communicated to the petitioner."
"It is expected that aforesaid exercise shall be carried out within a period of 15 days from submitting copy of this order," further read the order.
"It is made clear that this Court has not expressed any view on merits," clarified the bench.
