Tensions erupted after the doctor began renovation work at their ancestral house. The accused reportedly objected to the construction, leading to a heated argument between the two brothers. What initially started as a verbal dispute soon spiralled into a violent clash as tempers flared within the household.
Speaking to Odisha TV, locals said the accused allegedly lost control during the altercation and attacked the doctor. It is further alleged that he strangled his younger brother during the fight. Soon after, other members of the accused’s family also allegedly joined in the assault, turning the situation more violent. The doctor was reportedly punched repeatedly, and the attackers allegedly pressed his neck and jumped on his chest while he lay on the ground. Locals said the assault continued for several minutes before he became unconscious and was later rushed for medical help.
Relatives rushed the critically injured doctor to the Mahakalapada Community Health Centre. Medical staff referred him to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival, reports Pragativadi.
The shocking incident created tension in the village as news of the death spread rapidly. Locals gathered near the house, and the atmosphere remained tense following the fatal clash.
On receiving information, the police reached the spot and launched an investigation. Four persons, including the main accused, have been detained for questioning.
Police officials said further investigation is underway to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the role of each person involved in the assault.
