Hyderabad MBBS graduate allegedly dies by suicide after family objected to pet cat

Suicide
Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, a 23-year-old MBBS graduate allegedly died by suicide in Hyderabad's Alwal area following a disagreement with her family over keeping a pet cat at home. No suicide note was found, police said.
According to news reports, the deceased was a resident of Risala Bazar in the Alwal area, had recently completed her MBBS degree and was preparing for postgraduate entrance examinations while staying with her family.
The incident took place on Friday evening when she was reportedly alone at home, police officials said.
Police said she allegedly hanged herself from a ceiling fan in the hall while her family members were out.
Concern arose when her parents tried calling her to check if she had eaten lunch, but received no response. They then requested neighbours to check on her. Upon entering the house, the neighbours found her hanging in the hall and immediately alerted authorities.
Emergency services, including 108 ambulance personnel, reached the spot and declared her dead.
While preliminary inquiry points to a domestic disagreement, police are examining all possible angles, they added, reports NDTV.
Speaking to TOI. Alwal SI N Devender, "Family members in their complaint stated that the woman was upset about not being allowed to keep the cat, and died by suicide. No suicide note was found. We have registered a case under Section 194 (suspicious death) of the BNSS. After the autopsy at Gandhi Hospital, the body was handed over to the family."
