Inquiry ordered into woman's death after RMP allegedly administers injection

Medical Negligence
Hyderabad: In a tragic incident, a 30-year-old woman died after allegedly developing complications following an injection administered by a Rural Medical Practitioner (RMP) in Karwan Vaddera Basti, prompting the Ranga Reddy district medical and health officer (DMHO) to order an inquiry into the incident.
The deceased, a daily wage labourer, had consulted an RMP on Friday after developing fever. According to her family, he examined her and administered an injection in her lower back before sending her home.

The following day, she developed swelling and severe pain in her legs. As her condition worsened, she returned to the RMP on Monday. The RMP reportedly arranged an auto-rickshaw and took her to Joy Hospital in Attapur, where he also paid a deposit of Rs 10,000.
According to the news reports, the woman’s condition deteriorated while she was undergoing treatment at the hospital. She died around 2 am on Tuesday.
Following her death, relatives staged a protest outside the hospital, alleging that the hospital doctors failed to provide timely treatment. Police registered a case of alleged medical negligence at Attapur police station.
Speaking to TOI, Ranga Reddy DMHO Swaroopa said that an inquiry team would examine the circumstances surrounding the woman’s death. “We are sending an inquiry team and asking for an explanation. A show-cause notice has been issued to the hospital, and an expert team will examine the case,” she added.
Meanwhile, police said the RMP is currently absconding.
Authorities are expected to determine the exact cause of the woman’s death and whether any medical negligence occurred during her treatment. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the inquiry and investigation.
Medical Dialogues had previously reported that medical negligence is alleged after a 16-year-old girl died in Telangana’s Khammam district following injections reportedly administered by a Rural Medical Practitioner (RMP), prompting police to register a case against the practitioner.
