Jharkhand: Man killed after car allegedly driven by medical officer crashes into house

Medininagar: In a shocking incident, a man lost his life when he was run over by a car allegedly driven by a government medical officer in Jharkhand's Palamu district, police said on Friday.

The incident took place at Sikki village in the Patan Police Station area late on Thursday when the driver lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a turn, they said, according to PTI.

Patan Police Station officer-in-charge Anil Kumar Vidyarthi told reporters that the villager died on the spot. The doctor suffered critical injuries in the accident and was admitted to a hospital for treatment.

Anil Kumar Vidyarthi said, “The medical officer lost control of his vehicle, and it crashed into the house and struck Vinod Singh, who was sleeping in the courtyard''.

“Singh supported his family by working as a tempo driver. The body was sent for post-mortem examination on Friday morning. We are investigating the incident and waiting to take the statement of the doctor,” the officer added.

Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that in a tragic incident, a government doctor was among four people killed, and three others sustained critical injuries after a speeding SUV allegedly rammed into the rear of a trailer truck on the Lucknow-Sultanpur Highway in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki district.

According to reports, the victims were travelling to Kainchi Dham on a pilgrimage when the tragic accident occurred near Bhikhra village under the Haidergarh police station area around 5 a.m. Police officials stated that the Innova was heading towards Lucknow from eastern Uttar Pradesh when it rammed into the trailer with tremendous force. Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver may have fallen asleep at the wheel, resulting in the fatal collision.
