Kerala Govt Medical College Doctors to strike on November 13 over pending demands
Thiruvananthapuram: Doctors under the Kerala Government Medical College Teachers’ Association (KGMCTA) have announced a complete strike on November 13, 2025, withdrawing from all duties except emergency services. The strike is being held to press several long-pending demands, including salary revision and the creation of new posts.
Medical Dialogues had earlier reported that the Kerala Government Medical College doctors have announced that, as part of their ‘work-to-rule’ protest over pending demands, they will boycott all duties, including teaching, after duty hours from November 11, 2025.
The Kerala Government Medical College Teachers' Association (KGMCTA) stated, “The protest by Government Medical College doctors under KGMCTA is intensifying, as the State Government continues to ignore the serious concerns of doctors and the healthcare sector. Even at this crucial juncture, the government has failed to initiate any constructive dialogue with the protesting doctors''.
For the last couple of months, the association has been protesting against the inaction on the part of the state government. The association commenced its protest on July 1, raising its demands.
Despite holding a boycott of OP duties on a relay basis, including the OP boycott held on October 20, and making repeated appeals to the government, no solution has been offered yet. The government is not ready to resolve the issue or hold discussions, KGMCTA mentioned in a statement.

However, as the Health Department is yet to address the demands of the doctors, the association decided to hold the strike on November 13, members said.
KGMCTA members said that apart from emergency hospital services, other departments would participate in the protest, reports PTI.
The association is also demanding payment of salary arrears between 2016 and 2020, rectification of irregularities in the pay structure for entry-level doctors, and creation of more posts in government medical colleges.
