Kerala Paediatrician booked for allegedly sexually harassing, showing porn to four nursing students
Kanhangad: A Kerala-based paediatrician of Kasaragod District Hospital has been booked for allegedly making sexual remarks and showing pornographic videos to four nursing students of the Government School of Nursing in Kanhangad.
It was brought to the attention of the police when the four nursing students felt that the hospital authorities failed to take appropriate action against the doctor after hearing the allegations.
According to the police, four students filed complaints against the doctor for sexual harassment and the cases were registered separately.
The complainants are first-year nursing students of the Government School of Nursing in Kanhangad who visited the district hospital which is 3km away for training. It is reported that the accused often harassed them by making sexual remarks which made the students uncomfortable.

The matter took a turn when three students accused the doctor of making sexual remarks in the outpatient chamber and the fourth student accused the latter of showing her a pornographic video.
After the matter was taken to the police, a case was registered against the doctor under Sections 354 A and Section 509 of the IPC and Sections 67 and 67 A of the Information Technology Act which deals with publishing or transmitting obscene and sexually explicit acts in electronic form.
Disappointed over the hospital authorities' decision regarding the incident, the students were forced to inform the police.
As per Onmanorama reports, the incident was first reported to the district medical officer last month. Based on the complaints of the student, the officer instituted an inquiry committee. However, the results were not convincing for the students since the committee recommended sending the doctor to the General Hospital in Kasaragod and leaving the charge of punitive action to the Directorate of Health Service if found guilty.
Working on the recommendation, the DMO of the hospital transferred the doctor to the General Hospital on Friday and in response to this, an official said "It is not a punishment transfer but a working arrangement."
Explaining the charges and the consequences, Inspector Shine K P said "We have registered four cases against the doctor based on the complaints filed by four first-year students." The doctor will face up to three years in prison if convicted of the charges which carry a maximum punishment of five years, he said.
