Kerala Pediatrician, nurse among 3 charged under IPC 304A
Kozhikode: A pediatrician and a nurse have been charged under IPC 304 A 'with involuntary manslaughter' on Monday in connection with the death of a 12-year-old boy who was allegedly administered an injection at a private clinic in Nadapuram.
The pediatrician arrested has been identified as managing director of the private clinic while others taken into custody include the doctor's managing partner Rasheed and nurse Shani.
According to a recent media report in The Hindu, the arrest came after the district medical board headed by the District Medical Officer found lapses on the part of the clinic and stated that the nurse was not qualified enough, to work at the clinic as a nurse and to administer injections.
As per police, the doctor and managing partner were arrested for hiring an unqualified nurse.

The patient, a student of class 7 had sought treatment for phlegm. He was admitted to the clinic where he started exhibiting uneasiness after an injection was allegedly administered to him by the nurse. The patient was rushed to a hospital in Thalassery. However, he died on February 14 while on his way to the hospital, reports The Hindu,
The postmortem report stated that the cause of death was respiratory failure. However, the kin of the deceased filed a complaint with the Nadapuram police alleging that the death was the fault of the authorities.
Subsequently, an investigation by the Medical Board, chaired by the DMO, found lapse at the clinic. It was found that the nurse was inadequate neither did she obtain parental consent when the patient was admitted to the clinic.
As per Time.News, the three of them have been released on bail.
