MD medico at Agra Mental Health Institute found dead

Agra: In a shocking incident, a postgraduate medical student in the department of Psychiatry at the Institute of Mental Health and Hospital in Agra, Uttar Pradesh, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in her hostel room, the police said on Monday.
Assistant commissioner of police Manisha said that the body of the doctor was discovered in her hostel room on Sunday evening.
The deceased, a 28-year-old, first-year MD Psychiatry student, had joined the department on February 22.
According to the ACP, the deceased's family members contacted her friends after receiving no response from her despite repeated phone calls. When the friends visited the hostel to check on her, they found that the door to her room was locked from the inside, news agency PTI reported.

The officer said that upon receiving the information, the police reached the spot, broke open the door and found the doctor lying unconscious on her bed.
She said that the police rushed her to a medical college, where doctors declared her dead.
Speaking to Etvbharat, Dr Dinesh Rathore, director of the Institute of Mental Health and Hospital, said that in February, the deceased had accused a senior resident doctor, a resident of Ghaziabad, of misconduct after they had gone out together. Following this, she filed a complaint. Consequently, a committee comprising three doctors was constituted to investigate the matter. The committee submitted its report after recording statements and conducting an inquiry. The investigation report did not substantiate allegations of misconduct, he added.
The ACP further said preliminary investigations have revealed that she was suffering from mental distress and was undergoing treatment for the same.
Reports indicate that she had even attempted to end her life on March 27 by taking an overdose of sleeping pills. After undergoing treatment and showing signs of recovery, she was taken home by her family members. She had returned to the institute just three days earlier.
The body has been sent for postmortem, and the exact cause of the doctor's death would be ascertained once the report comes, the police said.
ACP Manisha also said that no suicide note has been recovered from the hostel room.
