Tikamgarh: In an unfortunate incident, a government doctor working as a medical officer with the health department of Madhya Pradesh allegedly shot himself dead in MP's Tikamgarh district on Saturday.
As per recent media accounts, the doctor shot himself in the head with his licensed gun. Hearing the sound of gunshot, nearby people reached the spot. By then he had died.
The local police station in-charge Arvind Singh Dangi informed PTI that Dr Suresh Sharma (60) allegedly ended life by using his licensed .315 rifle at his government residence in Jatara town.
The reason behind the extreme step was yet to be ascertained, he added.
According to the PTI report, Chief Medical and Health Officer of the district Shobharam Roshan said Sharma was posted at the Jatara Health Centre for the last 15 years.
Free Press Journal adds that the incident occurred around 1 pm on Saturday afternoon. He was alone at home at the time of the incident. His wife was away at work at the time. The police arrived with the forensic team and started the investigation.
