Doctor Arrested for Wife’s Murder, Burnt Body to Stage Accident in MP
Nashik: A doctor working at the Nashik Civil Hospital has been booked for allegedly abetting the suicide of his wife, an Ayurveda practitioner, following a complaint filed by the deceased’s sister. The police have registered a case, but no arrest has been made so far.
The Ayurveda doctor was reportedly found hanging at her residence in the Gangapur area when her husband returned home with their two daughters, aged 14 and 9, after picking them up from school. Since no suicide note was found at the spot, police registered an accidental death case and began a preliminary inquiry.
Following the doctor's death, her family alleged that continuous mental harassment and ill-treatment by her husband pushed her to take the extreme step.
According to a report by TOI, the deceased doctor’s younger sister later approached the police and alleged that her brother-in-law was involved in an affair with another woman doctor working at the civil hospital. She added that the woman doctor frequently visited their residence, which had caused repeated distress to her sister.
The complainant further stated that the Ayurveda practitioner had confronted her husband several times regarding the alleged relationship. She also alleged that the deceased had faced harassment and was publicly humiliated by her husband on at least one occasion.
According to the complaint, the emotional and mental distress caused by these incidents eventually led the woman to take the extreme step. Based on these allegations, the Gangapur Police Station registered a case against the husband.
Police have booked him under Section 108 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for abetment of suicide. Confirming the development, police officials said, “The matter is under investigation.” Further investigation is ongoing to examine the allegations mentioned in the complaint and determine the circumstances that led to the doctor’s death.
