National dental commission seeks details of advanced qualifications obtained by dental professionals

New Delhi: The Under-Graduate and Post-Graduate Dental Education Board under the National Dental Commission (NDC) has invited information from dental professionals holding additional or advanced qualifications earned in India or abroad, as part of an initiative to create a national database of specialised expertise in the dental field.
The exercise aims to systematically identify and map advanced academic and professional qualifications held by dental professionals in dentistry-related subjects, allied sciences, and health professions education across the country.
According to the official notice, the purpose of this initiative is to systematically map the advanced qualifications available among dental professionals in the country.
• Dentistry related (other than BDS/MDS)
• Allied sciences
• Health Professions Education or General Education
The program/ course should meet the following criteria:
• The course should be of a minimum duration of 06 months;
• It should require successful completion through one or more of the following: a formal examination, or evaluation of a portfolio, or completion of coursework, project work, or residency leading to award of a qualification by University/Institute;
• It should not be limited to short courses, lectures, workshops, or webinars.
"If you possess such qualifications, you are requested to fill out this form providing their details. Submission of the form implies your consent to share the required information with the National Dental Commission, New Delhi," said the notice.

Earlier, through a notice, the Dental Assessment and Rating Board (DARB) under the National Dental Commission (NDC) has issued a directive to all dental colleges to mandatorily update faculty details and biometric attendance records on the designated online portal, giving institutions a strict deadline to comply as part of efforts to ensure adherence to academic and regulatory standards.
"The Dental Assessment and Rating Board (DARB) of the National Dental Commission has, in order to maintain the standard of dental education, decided to monitor the details of faculties viz. their minimum required biometric attendance and other details pertaining to their academic activities in all dental colleges to ensure compliance with prescribed norms. In this regard, you are requested to update the complete details of faculty members of your college on the online portal of NDC (erstwhile DCI) website using their credentials," the NDC has directed the dental colleges.
