Nizamabad doctor's timely action saves life of cardiac patient Mid-Air

Nizamabad: A quick intervention by the doctor of Nizamabad Government General Hospital helped save the life of a woman passenger who suffered a stroke while onboard an Air India flight from Vijayawada to Hyderabad. The incident came to light on Sunday when Dr Prathima Raj shared her experience with colleagues.
During the flight on January 30, the cabin crew announced a medical emergency after a female passenger who was also a cardiac patient collapsed. It came to light that the passenger had suffered a stroke. Although a few doctors were present on board, Dr. Prathima Raj was the first to respond, swiftly initiating treatment. Using the emergency medical kit provided by the flight staff, she performed CPR, stabilizing the patient before landing, reports Deccan Chronicle.
The swift action of Dr. Raj earned appreciation from co-passengers and the Air India crew, who applauded her efforts. Upon arrival at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad, Anuradha’s family and the airline staff personally expressed their gratitude. The doctor was further lauded by her peers and colleagues upon her return to Nizamabad, where she has served as the superintendent of Government General Hospital for the past six years.
Last year a similar incident occurred when a potential heart attack aboard a Delhi-Mumbai IndiGo flight turned into a life-saving moment, thanks to the prompt intervention of Dr. Prashant Bharadwaj. As per accounts, the medical emergency occurred approximately 45 minutes before the flight was scheduled to land in Mumbai. Dr Prashant Bharadwaj, a doctor with Tata Motors, was travelling to Mumbai for some work when he heard a scream asking for help. The crew asked for a doctor onboard and he immediately took the first aid box and rushed to the said passenger with some medications. The crew also provided additional first-aid support.
