NMC allows voluntary clinical service by Bangladeshi physician at Tripura Medical College

Doctor
Agartala: The National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted temporary permission to a renowned Bangladeshi physician, Dr Pran Gopal Dutta, to provide voluntary clinical services at Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, Agartala, Tripura.
The permission has been issued under Section 34 of the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, following an application submitted for allowing Dr Dutta to offer voluntary clinical services at the institute.
An official communication issued by the Ethics and Medical Registration Board (EMRB) of the NMC to the Principal of Tripura Santiniketan Medical College, Agartala, mentioned that the temporary permission will be valid from October 13, 2025, to October 12, 2026. The permission will automatically expire on October 12, 2026.

The NMC has clearly stated that Dr Dutta must hold a valid visa category that allows him to work in India and asked the institute to submit compliance with this requirement.
"This permission is valid from 13/10/2025 to 12/10/2026, and will expire on 12/10/2026 with the condition that the visa should be of an appropriate category as the visa issuing authority may deem applicable, which permits him to work in India. The institute is required to submit compliance of the same, along with the copy of visa to the EMRB. This would be the responsibility of the sponsoring institute," the communication read.
The Commission has warned that any use of this permission beyond the expiry date will be treated as illegal practice, and strict action may be taken for unauthorised medical practice.
"This permission is valid only for the purpose stated in the subject above in the Medical Institute/Hospital which has sponsored the candidate. In case of period of temporary permission being more than the said duration, the candidate must inform to the concerned State Medical Council with this authority letter," added the communication.
