No safety for Doctors: Patient's drunk kin enter RGSSH Doctor's duty room, creates ruckus
New Delhi: A shocking incident at Rajiv Gandhi Super Speciality Hospital (RGSSH) Tahirpur, has sparked significant concerns over security protocols within the facility after a patient's attendant was found entering the doctors's duty room and allegedly misbehaving with resident doctors in an intoxicated state.
The attendant's behaviour caused a stir at the hospital when he entered the Doctors' Duty Room of the Pulmonology Ward, A Wing during the night and allegedly mistreated the resident doctors.
Consequently, the resident doctors complained about the incident to the hospital administration and their response in this regard is awaited.
Meanwhile, no instances of security personnel addressing the problem were brought to attention. Therefore, accusations have been made regarding the shortage of security personnel at the hospital, who might have been able to avert the problem.

Highlighting the incident, Dr Arun Kumar General Secretary of the United Doctors Front Association wrote a letter to the Managing Director of RGSSH Dr Ashish Goyel urging immediate measures to address the security lapse and protect the staff and patients in the facility.
In the letter, Dr Kumar said, "This revelation not only shocks the conscience regarding the efficacy of the hospital's security protocol and underscores potential vulnerabilities within the hospital premises."
Expressing concern over the incident, Dr Kumar has urged the authorities to take note of the issue and take appropriate measures to curb such incidents so that the patients' trust remains in the institution. He further called for the safety of both patients and medical staff at the hospital.
"As a dedicated healthcare facility, the safety and well-being of both patients and staff should be of utmost priority. However, incidents such as these not only compromise the safety of hardworking medical professionals but also erode trust in the institution's ability to maintain a secure environment.
I urge you to take immediate and decisive action to address the security lapse. It is imperative that steps are taken to enhance security measures within the hospital to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future. Additionally, measures should be implemented to ensure the safety of staff and patients, as well as the security of personal belongings within the hospital premises." reads the letter.
In conclusion, Dr Kumar in his letter said, "I trust that you will give this matter the attention it deserves and take appropriate steps to rectify the situation."
