Odisha Govt appoints 1205 medical officers in major hospitals
Bhubaneswar: Days after the unfortunate train accident at Odisha's Balasore region, the state has welcomed the appointment of around 1205 MBBS doctors as medical officers in one go at a government event held at Kalinga Stadium on Tuesday, June 6.
Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik congratulated the medical officers on their appointment. He said that this is a huge addition to the current strength of doctors which would ultimately strengthen the healthcare sector and improve patient satisfaction.

Hoping that the doctors would serve the people sincerely and with empathy, the CM, as per a media report in Odisha TV, said, The train accident has manifested the compassion and humanity of the people of Odisha. Doctors, medical students, general public….all had one thing in mind…. Let’s save life… as many as we can. And we have saved more than a thousand lives. People providing support to rescue operations and the long queues for blood donation are rare sights but invaluable. I am proud of my people. I am proud of Odisha."
"Everyone is aware of the train tragedy in Balasore that shook the nation, even the world. It’s a time of immense grief and sorrow. But, this accident has proved the strength of Odisha, its ability to rise up to the expectation during the time of crisis", stated the press release from the Chief Minister's Office.
The tragic train accident took place on June 2 in which a few coaches of the Shalimar-Chennai Coromandel Express retracked and crashed into goods train from the opposite track, following which another train from Bengaluru to Howrah crashed into the Coromandel coaches. The accident reportedly killed nearly 270 people and left around 900 people injured.
Medical Dialogues team had earlier reported that medical representatives helped reunite injured people from the train accident with their families through social media.
