On February 1, the quack approached the security guard of the O&G department and identified himself as a newly appointed doctor. He wanted to know the way to the ward.
However, the CDMO, who was on a round, spotted the man with a stethoscope around his neck and made some queries. As the accused could not reply properly, the CDMO got suspicious and contacted the police.
During interrogation by the police, it was found that he was a fake doctor. The quack has been detained and further investigation is under progress to ascertain his motive behind posing as a doctor and entering the hospital.
Speaking with Odisha TV, the security guard said, “The man dressed like a doctor with a stethoscope around his neck came and asked me the way to the gynaecology ward. He even said he has joined recently. He asked me where are the labor room and operation theatre. Then, the CDMO detained him.”
“I visited the Obstetrician and Gynaecologist ward at the DHH and found Rajib on the stairs. When I asked him why he was holding the stethoscope, he could not answer satisfactorily. Later, he was handed over to the police and an investigation into the matter is on,” said Dr Santosh Patra, CDMO.
