On-duty pregnant doctor manhandled by 2 thieves at Dhakoli Civil Hospital
Mohali: In a shocking incident, an on-duty pregnant doctor was allegedly manhandled by two thieves at a Community Health Centre in Dhakoli when she tried to stop them from stealing medical supplies.
According to the police, the 8-month pregnant doctor was allegedly pushed away by the two accused when they were trying to flee after stealing injections and syringes from the store room. Fortunately, the doctor did not sustain injuries.
Following this, the police arrested the duo under Sections 221, 132, 331 (4) and 307 of BNS, and Section 4 of the Punjab Protection of Medicare Service Persons and Medicare Service Institutions Act based on the doctor's complaint. Both are repeat offenders and have even served in jail for their past crimes.

As per HT news report, the incident took place on Saturday evening at around 7 pm when the duo entered the store room of the CHC forcibly and stole syringes and injections. The pregnant doctor who was on duty noticed the duo and tried to stop them. During the confrontation, the duo pushed her and fled from the scene.
Later, the woman informed the police about the incident. During the investigation, the police reviewed the CCTV footage and the duo were caught in the camera which led to their identification and arrest.
DSP Jaspinder Singh told TOI, “Their motive was to steal injections as they are drug addicts. Though it was dangerous, the brave doctor foiled their bid. While fleeing, they assaulted the doctor. She didn’t have any injury. Now we are interrogating the duo to know their other motives.”
This incident prompted the doctors at the health centre to demand increased 24-hour security and strict action against the culprits.
"Measures are being taken to ensure the safety of medical staff, including permanent deployment of a PCR team at Dhakoli hospital, to deter any future incidents," said the DCP.
