Online friend blackmails Delhi doctor over obscene video, FIR lodged
Delhi: A Delhi-based doctor has recently filed an FIR with the police against a social media friend, who threatened and blackmailed him over an obscene video of his and demanded Rs 3 lakh.
The doctor has been identified as a 25-year-old PG medical student attached to Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), who received a friend request from a woman on his social media platform and accepted the same.
Soon they became friends and started chatting. In the course of their conversation, the women urged him to make a video call and then asked him to remove his clothes, reports The Indian Express.
However, she recorded the doctor's intimate video without his knowledge, and thereafter, started blackmailing and threatening him to make the video viral if he denied paying her a hefty amount.
The doctor, in his complaint mentioned that the woman already extorted Rs 72000 from him but instead of deleting the video, she demanded to pay her Rs 3 lakh.
Eventually, the doctor approached the police and filed a complaint against her. Police are suspending that the woman might be a habitual offender who traps people and exports money from them using the same plan, reports the daily.
"The complainant has told the police that on May 14, she sent him a video and then asked him to call her. He called her up and she recorded his video when he was naked," a senior police officer told the daily.
The doctor alleged that within hours of their conversation, the woman sent him the video and started demanding money threatening him to post it on social media.
"Initially, he was asked to pay Rs 29,000, then asked to transfer Rs 16,800 and again asked to give Rs 26,500. He transferred, but instead of deleting his video, she now asked him to give Rs 3 lakh. As such, he decided to approach the police as she was continuously extorting money from him," the officer added.
"On June 7, we lodged an FIR for cheating, impersonation, and violation of privacy under the Information Technology Act. Our efforts are on to trace the accused with the help of the phone number she used to contact the complainant," police added.
